About meeee - Krissi

Dance grabbed hold of me when I was just 5 years old — from fighting with my twin sister about who got to dance with my mom to Elvis Presley (mom was a Rock’ n ’Roll dancer!) to stepping onto the rave scene as a teenager and feeling that wild freedom through movement.

But movement became more than just fun — it became my path to self-love, connection, and healing throughout all phases of my life.

I found transformative joy (and life philosophies that I still live by today) in the Nia Technique, where I learned to dance with my WHOLE body (emotional, mental, and physical), letting movement carry emotion, laughter, tears, and release.

I also learned how to “teach a class” in front of people, offer verbal cues for upcoming moves, and engage the minds and emotions of my students to bring them on a movement journey.

Over the years, I’ve studied and taught many forms of dance — from partner dances like Swing, Blues, Latin, and Fusion, to Ecstatic Dance and Somatic Movement Meditation.

For over a decade, I was an integral part of hosting dance events and helping build the partner dance scene in Nelson, creating spaces where connection and community could meet on the dance floor.

My hope with SpiritFire Dance is that you discover a safe, joyful, liberating space in your body and your life — to be with what’s alive in you, express what’s real, and move in ways that feel true and pleasurable.

With love,
Krissi
